About the Company:

To the Nines Maternity was launched in September 2006 by owner and designer Kim Hinkle. The company was inspired from a desire to create unique styles with comfortable fabrics while maintaining moderate price points. To the Nines has released three collections with each receiving exceptional feedback from customers, press and retailers.

Hinkle's designs are inspired from exposure to everyday images and experiences that create an ever-growing mental catalog of creativity. The design process can be set in motion from ideas stimulated from the complexity of a painting or even influenced by the simplicity of a button.

To the Nines' collections are marketed to maternity retailers located throughout the United States, Canada and Europe through direct emails, catalog mailings and trade show exhibitions. The company made its first trade show appearance at the Dallas Market Center in March 2007 and is a regular exhibitor at the Mom2B Trade Show, a maternity-based trade show in Los Angeles.

As a growing small business, To the Nines has aligned itself with a manufacturing company that shares similar values of integrity and hard work. At a small facility in Spirit Lake, Iowa you'll find a team of seamstresses, patternmakers and logistics analysts efficiently working to re-create Hinkle's vision to precision. The close relationship between designer and manufacturer allows for a higher attention to detail on each finished product than typically found in the industry. To the Nines is very proud that 100% of its products are manufactured in a clean, reputable facility here in the USA.

About the Designer:

Kim Hinkle was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on April 14th, 1981. As a child she was fascinated by anything that could be taken apart and put back together. Kim often found herself surrounded by elaborate structures of Legos and Lincoln Logs. At the age of 8 she learned how to use a sewing machine and began deconstructing clothes and reassembling them in different ways. The budding designer tried using store-bought patterns but soon realized that she preferred making her own. With the help of her mom, Kim ran a successful "scrunchie" business in the early 90's, selling hair accessories to classmates and exhibiting at craft fairs.

After studying art and design in high school, Kim moved to the Midwest to attend college at the University of Kansas. In 2003 she graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Textile Design, officially transforming her long-time hobby into a potential career.

Kim spent a few years after college saving money and preparing for entrepreneurship before launching To the Nines Maternity in September of 2006. She currently works from her home office in Overland Park, Kansas where she lives with her husband, Grant, and two kittens.
